It's great to see more BSG Cast stuff. I just watched all the Blood and Chrome in one go, so no guarantees that I compartmentalize the episodes, but in response to your cast:

1) I got the feeling that (like Shauna Marie said), Husker was a reference to corn husking or to farming. Adama said something like "I did live in Caprica, you know." Implying that he wasn't in fact from the country but lived in the city. I'm not sure why Coker started calling him Husker. I don't think Adama did anything that stood out as a country thing. So on that point, it seems like the writers were stretching for a bit of continuity.

Maybe it was because he was from Tauron? Was his history revealed before or after the nickname?

2) I thought there were enough differences between the Kobayashi Maru and whatever Adama was doing. In the Kobayashi Maru, Kirk outright cheated. He did something with the code that allowed him to win. With Adama's flight simulator, he was thinking outside the box and being risky, but it was all above board and not cheating.

I thought the CGI was very well done. It melded nicely, and I only noticed it a little bit. For a show with barely any budget (compared to TV or film), I'm very impressed by their CG. One of my complaints would be that towards the end of the series I noticed the cameras seemed jittery. Shaky cam during action is ok with me, but I'd rather it be smooth. This might have also been something with my connection to YouTube, I'm not sure.

It was great to see you guys reviewing BSG again. I really liked the cozy/lazy comments. Hopefully there's lots more Blood and Chrome.

Hi!
Is there a petition for this to become a series??? Where do I sign?
No doubt the powers-that-be are worried about $. Will they get it back.

I am, difficult as it is, going to wait and buy this on DVD. I want to see it all at once.
Have a great week everyone!!

ps. saw Breaking Dawn part 2 and it was ok...it is what it is. It had a good twist at the end. Some relief when it ended, that there will be no more Twilight movies...

pps. What is this about Zacchary Quinto not wanting to play Spock anymore????? He BEGGED JJ Abrams to play that part. He HARASSED him about it continually. And now he wants out? Is he mad? Would make me sad as he nailed it in 'Star Trek' and will no doubt continue to nail the role. Please stay aboard Quinto!

Have just hunted down and watched the first few episodes online...'unofficially' as Australia gets forgotten, again. Have to say, not bad at all. The set-up was a little stock-in-trade, but there's a reason film cliches work: they're shorthand. You get the broad strokes very quickly, and the detail can get added later.

Pasqualino is doing a good job with the cocky, squeaky clean thing that I suspect (hope) is going to get knocked out of him by the end of the series. More importantly, I think his characterisation hits the important distinction: not the wild young stick inside the old man, but the green wood out of which our favourite gnarled Admiral will come. Watching episode 3 leaves you in no doubt why he treats Starbuck- and Kat- like his daughters.

The actors recycling didn't bug me too much, we have to do it here too. I was actually delighted to see the BSG Sergeant at arms turn up again.

As much as the CGI has been great so far, adding greatly to atmosphere, it's the music. Wow. Episodes 3 and especially 4- easily the equal of BSG's score. Listen out for it Matt + Nat, and great to see you back.

Adama was calling his Raptor "Wild Weasel Air." Another tie-in to "Flight of the Intruder."

Quick tie-in from the Wikipedia.

Wild Weasel: A Wild Weasel is an aircraft (usually United States Air Force) specially equipped with radar seeking missiles, and tasked with destroying the radars and SAM installations of enemy air defense systems.

In brief, the task of a Wild Weasel aircraft is to bait enemy anti-aircraft defenses into targeting it with their radars, whereupon the radar waves are traced back to their source allowing the Weasel or its teammates to precisely target it for destruction. A simple analogy is playing the game of "flashlight tag" in the dark; a flashlight is usually the only reliable means of identifying someone in order to "tag" (destroy) them, but the light immediately renders the bearer able to be identified and attacked as well. The result is a hectic game of cat-and-mouse in which the radar "flashlights" are rapidly cycled on and off in an attempt to identify and kill the target before the target is able to home in on the emitted radar "light" and destroy the site.

The two episodes. Wow! The opening scene reminded me more of "Top Gun" than the Kobyashi Maru. Maybe "Flight of the Intruder" is a better comparison. The reveal of the Galactica was beautiful! It was great seeing the old girl still with the new-car smell. Coker is great. His pragmatic cynicism reminds me of Cole from "Flight of the Intruder" instead of Goose from "Top Gun." This is a great paring of characters. Looking forward to the next episode!

You know, I was just re-watching the finale for battlestar, and there's this moment right about when Adama's about to get off the ship for the last time, and he looks out onto the hanger deck, and I'm thinking: Is he remembering the first time he saw it? The first piece of the inside of Galactica he sees in blood and chrome is the last he sees in daybreak, the original series theme plays as he looks upon the vessel for the last time as he leaves her, and as he looks upon her when he first enters. The opening of Blood and Chrome is a reverse of Adama's departure from Galactica.
