HARRY POTTER 6 REVIEW: Great Film, Awful Adaptation

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Now that Matt has read all the books along with Nat, the tag-team fury of two Potter-heads trying to review Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince as the best film in the series before going on a tirade about the faithlessness of adaptation… well it might just blow your mind as much as it did ours.

In any event, we’ve never loved and hated a Potter film more than this one, so hit up YourGeeknews.com and give us YOUR thoughts, since we’re all the kind of geeks who were sitting there at 12:01 when the lights went down and the applause began!

HARRY POTTER 6 PREVIEW: Seriously? They’re Calling it HP6?

Monday, July 13th, 2009

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the sixth story in the Harry Potter Anthology, is coming to the big screens after breaking the hearts of fans everywhere with a tragic (yet necessary) plot development in the book. And now we get to see all that nastiness come to life! Since being blown away by Order of the Phoenix, Matt has actually read all the books, and it’ll be interesting to see how opinions may change since our 2007 Review of the previous installment of Harry Potter.

T4 REVIEW: Terminator Salvageable? Satisfactory? Sub-par?

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

We both loved parts and hated parts; we both thought parts were bad ass and other parts had no balls at all… only problem is, we’re not totally in agreement on which was which.

This isn’t exaclty a film series that prides itself on continuity, but still, as Terminator fans, but after 25 years of Terminators, we have a certain minimum expectation. What did you think?

T4 PREVIEW: Does McG Spell Salvation for the Terminator Franchise?

Monday, May 18th, 2009

After an atrocious T3, it looked like the Terminator film series was suffering from classic franchise fatigue (seriously, THREE movies about the same exact plot?). But with the arrival of McG in the director’s chair, we’ve got a movie about the coolest part of the Terminator universe: the dystopian future that all these wacky killing machines are from. Not to be confused with three hot babes who work for a talking speaker.

With a killer film look, some great actors, and a NEW idea for once, Terminator looks like it’s relevant again, and ready to rock this summer’s blockbuster season… Check out this sweet preview with TONNES of scenes from the film!

WATCHMEN REVIEW: Oh-oh Alan… it was good. REALLY good.

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

More positive than we were expecting with an ending that just might take Alan Moore to school. And we’re saying ALL that without seeing all the extra DVD-released scenes that have been shot with Hollis Mason, Sally Jupiter– oh yeah and the Black Freighter! So you can bet this will be the first of at least two reviews we’ll be doing of Watchmen. Once that DVD comes out, we’ll be getting an even more accurate, comprehensive and faithful adaptation.

WATCHMEN PREVIEW: Can it Live Up to the Source Material?

Friday, February 27th, 2009

We’ve had our eye on this project for YEARS, literally, and we couldn’t have more anticipation and enthusiasm for this film if we tried. Mostly because we’ve been fans of the graphic novel for as long as we can remember, and the pressure couldn’t be higher for Snyder to deliver a truly great movie from the greatest graphic novel of all time.

THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL PREVIEW: Whoah

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

Remaking a 50′s classic Sci-Fi film is a bit of an uphill battle after War of the Worlds disappointed us in 2005, but with Keanu as a convincing Space Alien, it looks like this one could be both topical and entertaining so far!

REPO! REVIEW: Testify! At the Genetic Opera, Tonight!

Monday, December 1st, 2008

If you haven’t seen REPO! The Genetic Opera, you REALLY should find the nearest theatrical screening and go! It’s coming to DVD on January 20, 2009, after a VERY limited release, but you’ll get one heck of an experience in the theatre, since this bad boy may well be the Rocky Horror Picture Show of the 21st Century! If we’ve reviewed one MUST SEE movie this year, REPO! is it!
