Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe make a great team. Just look at Gladiator. Really. We mean it, skip Robin Hood and just go watch Gladiator. This movie is so BARELY a story of Robin Hood, it hardly deserves the name, and winds up being little more than a re-tread of Scott’s previous epic work. Everyone phoned it in on this one, folks; don’t waste your time.

We were both BLOWN AWAY by almost every aspect of God of War 3. A fitting end to the Kratos trilogy and an amazing mythological bookend, GOW3 also delivered an even slicker gameplay and possibly the greatest graphics in any game, ever. Small hiccups to the gameplay like a DDR-style music minigame and a few too many knuckle sandwiches to the face of Zeus aside, this baby knocks it out of the park!

With with Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, the Incredible Hulk’s pulse-pounder of a director, Louis Leterrier has managed to round up some of finest thespians to play the Gods of Mount Olympus and added to that the heir-apparent to the action-superstar mantle in Sam Worthington, all to be able to tell one of the oldest stories in Greek Mythology, and to remake the 1981 Clash of the Titans. This one already seems like a winner just from the names involved and from what we’ve seen in trailers, so take a look at six exclusive scenes from the movie as well as interviews with the cast and crew to judge for yourself!

Tim Burton definitely pushed even his own imagination to a new level and a new dimension. But did any of Lewis Carroll’s legendary work of fiction make it to the silver screen intact? Characters seem to come across true to form, albeit a bit more Scottish, but Tim Burton is true to his word when he claimed this would be an entirely new story for Alice… far from an adaptation in plot and in spirit.

It’s one thing to put a tool like 3-D in the hands of a man like James Cameron, who delicately and gracefully gives the audience a subtle feeling of depth. It is quite another to give it to a visionary auteur who is famous for breaking all the rules and letting his wild imagination loose on unsuspecting viewers, and with Tim Burton’s take on the tale of Alice in Wonderland, we can expect him to have pulled out all the stops… if he ever had any.
Re-teaming with Disney, Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, this new vision of Alice and her Wonderland have both taken on a distinctly Burton flavour that is sure to make it singularly unique. On top of the visual style, Burton has concocted an entirely new story for Alice. Yes, you read that correctly, Lewis Carroll’s beloved text has been tossed out the window, leaving only the characters themselves to contend with Tim’s wild imagination. Sounds like a fair fight to us!

When young filmmakers with $20 million dollars decide to take on the vampire AND the science fiction genres at the same time, you really shouldn’t expect much. Which is why Daybreakers blew us away. Well conceived, imaginative, original and above all well done, this kind of film would have cost millions more if Hollywood decided to do something similar, and probably wouldn’t have turned out to be nearly as enjoyable!

Were it not for the extenuating circumstances of Heath Ledger’s death mid-production and the just-in-time rescue by faces like Jude Law, Colin Farrell and Johnny Depp, Terry Gilliam’s gorgeous masterpiece of nonsensical visual splendour might not have been a must-see film… but since all that DID happen, we can’t help but recommend it, warts and all!
