CLASH OF THE TITANS REVIEW: Source Material, Anyone?

Director Louis Leterrier definitely brought to life an epic tale of gods and men, with huge stakes, massive monsters, and some great big actors. But if it’s faithfulness to the 1981 movie you’re looking for, or faithfulness to the legend of Perseus, or even a good 3D visual experience, Clash of the Titans is going to let you down. We enjoyed the hell out of it on some levels, and yet were left feeling completely empty on others. What did you think? Let us know!

Nice review. I thoroughly enjoyed the film but agree on the adaptation. I used to eat up Greek Mythology as a kid and this was a far cry from the Perseus I remember.

I love Sam Worthington (him being a local boy from here in Perth) but did think his acting in the first part was awful. His “little boy having a sulk in the corner” act did nothing for me, but once the action got going I was fine.

BTW if you want to see him with long/er hair, google ’sam worthing macbeth’.

    Cheers

    Frankie

ZOMG! Thank you MATT & NAT! The into objections were perfect for what I felt.

Nat when you said you take of the glasses and it wasn’t really there, perfect.

Look forward to the reviews of some other amazing YGN worthy movies!

uhhhhhhh, luxneji, the original is pretty cheesey. But i loved it as a kid!

Matt and Nat! When are you going to review Ridley Scott’s new Robin Hood and the new A-Team film (is every film a re-make nowadays???) – I am totally geeking out to see both. Now, I am ok with Russel as a gladiator, but it’s pretty funny in the trailer to see him in Robin Hood get up. He is so typecast, the big righteous mofo growly bear. But you gotta be interested in anything by Ridley. The man is a god.
A-Team looks like good clean geeking out fun. Nothing like getting some righteous revengeful goodness.
    I will go to both.
When are you two going to get hitched? It could be held at Comicon or FanExpo and of course, there would be a ‘cast of it for all of us who can’t be there in person (WEARING OUR BALTAR SHIRTS!!!) The invites could have the corners cut off them ( :) ) and Matt could wear a Baltar-inspired tasteful pin-stripe, and Nat could wear…any number of cool things! Ambrosia on the tables, with little statues of Baltar and Tighe eye patches as wedding party favours for all the guests, god I wish I was getting married all over again so I could do all this. Ahh, will just have to settle for helping you! I will make whatever decorations you need!
    What do you hear?
    NOTHING BUT THE RING!!
    :) HEEHEEHEEHEEE
    so say we all

Well I was not expecting much out of this movie…so really I was not let down. Besides it was pretty clear that this was going ot be like Alice in Wonderland…a movie not made for 3D but because of Avatar every movie has to be put in 3D….which should not be happening to every big blockbuster. Whats next transformers 3, or the new spiderman movie?

About halfway through the movie I realized that the secret to enjoy this movie was to let your mind of compleltly blank and simply let the film roll over you like a wave. I simply imagained myself watching 2 and a Halfmen and I found myself brain dead.

Oh and don’t watch it in 3D, as stated for previous reasons…and because those glasses get really annoying if you aren’t blow away by the graphics that Avator had. So wait about five years for the standerd movie tech to catch up and then go 3D.

  6. Gary Says:

Did anyone notice how much this movie looks like the Disney Hurcules?

    Just asking . . .

I care for Russel, five days ago I went to see his latest motion picture featuring Russel Crowe. Man that’s a brilliant movie , I can easily highly recommend it …
