CLOUD ATLAS REVIEW: And You Thought They Couldn’t Do Worse Than Speed Racer.

Dear god.

Just when you thought the Wachowski’s hit rock bottom with Speed Racer, the worst cartoon racing movie of all time, they manage to make Cloud Atlas, the worst Sci-Fi Film, the worst Pirate Movie, the worst Zany Geriatric Escape-Comedy, the worst Victorian Romance, the worst 70′s Blaxploitation flick, AND the worst Post-Apocalyptic Fantasy film ALL AT ONCE, smashing them into the most excruciatingly unbearable 3-hour marathon of audience abuse ever made.

But what did you think? Our review is on the way… which we weren’t going to bother with until it stole 3 hours of our lives away and we felt the deep responsibility to prevent it from happening to you, too.

  1. Now that it’s finally coming out friday, will we be gettin a BSG: Blood and Cast?

    PS

    Still waiting on that shirt…

  2. Noooo I’m going to see that movie tomorrow! The commercials looked amazing and the idea is beautiful. Everyone I know that’s seen it has loved it. hmmm I hope it’s good.

  3. I may have been a bit overwhelmed by its shear ambition, but I rather liked “Cloud Atlas”. Not a perfect film, but it speaks to the universal truths about mankind. We all love, we all suffer, we all must all fight for freedom, and there will always be some form of Hugo Weaving trying to kill you.

By the way, still loving that Season 4.5 signed boxset that you guys sent me! Much thanks and it is great to see you guys are doing well!

  4. I saw cloud atlas the other day. I friggen loved it. Such a heartwarming and touching movie. So beautiful. But I can see why some people think it was jumbled together and the main point of the story could have been displayed in a more concise and impactfull way. However it seemed to be a challenging movie to make and even with all of those problems I found it to be one of the most beautiful movies I’ve seen in years.

  5. Hi!
A friend recommended the book to me a few weeks before the movie came out (which I did not know was coming and had never heard of it before she emailed me) and so I’m going to read the book. Watch it after that.
Some books don’t translate well to screen…people don’t realize that it’s many times often better to take the premise and then write a screenplay, maybe using some bits from the book, but maybe not….

  6. CA is not a perfect movie in any sense, but if you think value for money, the film looks Amazing, the visuals and score is breathtaking and from a filmmaking pov, the sheer audacity of doing something like six connected stories starring the same actors, well, I applaud the Wachowski’s. I loved the film, not knowing anything before seeing it. I highly recommend it but it’s def. love / hate Kind of film.
