PIRATES 4 REVIEW: Yes, But Are They BETTER Tides?

No Orlando and no Kiera? But we get McShane and Cruz instead? Sounds like a good recipe, but going back to the well after the trilogy has been told is risky. We’re hearing any subsequent Pirates films will be strictly one-offs, so let’s talk about how they set the precedent with “On Stranger Tides”!

  1. I feel it was a bit formulaic, but I really loved the chemistry between Cruz and Depp, and as always, Geoffrey Rush was amazing. I feel they could have done more to make the film a bit scarier (the mermaids were cool, as well the sort of vampiric twist put on them, but not quite as terrifying as other Pirates villains).

  2. Really enjoyed it. Not as good as the first pirates movie, but better than the 2 or 3rd. Like Joshua above. Cruz and Depp’s chemistry was great. Rush was wonderful again and enjoyed the bottled monkey with the Pearl. Overall a 4 out of 5.

  3. The 1st POTC kicked ass, the second one was boring, the third one…. I fell asleep. The most pointless thing in this one is the movie itself- they should stop making more POTC movies!
Can’t wait for the new X-MEN and the Green Lantern.
    BTW, Great review :)

  4. I was pretty bored to tears during the first one. I don’t think I’m gonna watch the 4th one.

  5. As far as Blackbeard’s sword, I kinda made myself chuckle with the thought that in the Percy Jackson and the Olympian’s book series Blackbeard was mentioned as being a Demigod Son of Ares. So maybe he got his magical wizard pirate powers from the God of War. lol
    Ahh, funny crossover humor <3
