PROMETHEUS PREVIEW: Scott’s Long-Awaited Return to Sci-Fi

Anyone who is in love with Blade Runner or Alien has been waiting for Ridley Scott to come back to the Sci-Fi genre for nearly three decades.

And now, the wait is over…. At least, in England it is.

Prometheus has a June 1 release date across the pond, for everyone else, YGN wanted to give you the next best thing we can: almost 7 minutes of footage and cast/crew interviews from Ridley Scott’s eagerly anticipated prequel to Alien!

We’ll be posting some interviews and scenes from Prometheus, but in the interest of keeping spoiler-free until June 8, let’s keep the comments from our European friends as light on plot details as possible.

  1. There are some countries that get it even later, like where I live, in June 14! It’s so annoying. I can’t wait anymore. You just can’t get more sci-fi horror monster epicness than Ridley returning to the Alien universe.

  2. I’m in Ireland and saw it opening day here in 3D (June 1st)
I’ll keep this “Spolier Free” …

    1) It is not a masterpiece, good but not great, so lower your expectations.
    2) It is NOT a DIRECT Prequel to Alien, much common DNA (some literally).
    3) Don’t expect it to shoehorn its ending into “Alien” like “The Thing” 2011 does to “The Thing” 1982.
    4) Its beautifully shot and the 3D is really good in some scenes – worthless in others.
    5) The script has it flaws and after some dissection you will notice some plot holes.
    6) Fassbender is excellent and steals the show.

In short, yes it is good … but not the mindblowing nerdgasm we anticipated.
