Heya Juhan,

We actually were planning on reviewing The Road, but it was so uninspired and dull, that Nat actually fell asleep and I didn't even bother waking her up. That was a short film drawn out to a feature that lost the entire point of the book, in my opinion. But since Nat didn't have an opinion, having slept through it, and I wasn't inclined to put us through a second viewing, we decided to skip it. I love Viggo, delightful dude... but sadly, The Road was not much of a movie.

Hey guys,

Why on earth didn't you guys review THE ROAD? It's science-fiction too! Even if it's more "literary" then "geeky". It's still genre. And Lars von Trier's ANTICHRIST earlier... That's an art-house take on the classical cabin-in-the-woods horror flick!! :P You guys are missing some great (and very nasty!) films! Is it out of fear that they're not as commercially successful? Remember, geek culture has always shied away from the mainstream (until recently) and so has "literary"/"artsty" stuff. I think there's an opportunity for great cross-over hybrids here... I loved your review of THIRST, though.

Cheers,

Yeah, I was not expecting that twist at all when I saw this movie! I was half-expecting Gary Oldman's character to open the bible and find out that it's either a bomb or a cut out hole in the shape of another smaller bible but this was just more mind-blowing!

Sure the twist may be flawed as some critics and audience members may lead you to think but the fact that it was unexpected and executed so well, makes the movie all the more brilliant.

Now, in a comparison with The Road, I kind of don't want to compare the two because they're both so very different but I'm going to go with The Road, because it's more realistic and heartbreaking in terms of how one's self lives in a world where there's hardly any life left whereas The Book of Eli is a straight-up religious action-packed, post-apocalyptic western, on the same level of The Road Warrior except it has one thing that movie didn't have... DENZEL!!!

The Road may be slow but hey, it's more realistic and terrifying that way.

Can't wait for your guy's review of The Wolfman! Looks beast... literally.
