THE WOLFMAN PREVIEW: 70 Years and Still Scary

Nearly 70 years after Lon Chaney Jr. first howled at the moon, Benicio Del Toro is slipping into his signature hair, ears and underbite to bring the classic Universal monster to life in Joe Johnston’s remake of The Wolf Man. With Anthony Hopkins, Hugo Weaving and Emily Blunt along for the ride, and the visual effects make-up artist behind The Howling and An American Werewolf in London, it looks like this remake has got some serious teeth.

Great preview! I saw the film, and aside from a few bumps in the second act (stereotypical German doctor, really?), it was the best horror film in a very long time. It’s proof that atmosphere and suspense outweigh gorn and surprise and actually are scarier than the latter.

The Wolfman was a pretty fun horror movie but I still think the original is better. You just can’t top a classic.

I saw Wolfman, and right after seeing this version i watched the classic one. It seems to me that Joe Johnston managed to remake a classic into another future classic. i loved the atmosphere and the suspense, the cast was perfect and Benicio scared me and made me pitty him at the same time. Great art direction – did i mention that?

This is not a film for the “Twilight” fans saga.I ´m saying that because the wolfman in the Joe Johnston film it´s a bestial monster with no sexy appeal. It´s a genuine werewolf movie, according with the original mith of this creature.I´m not saying that “New moon” was a bad movie. Not at all.I´m just have to say that “the Wolfman” its a movie for those who really like the classical concept and really want to be scaried. I´m like this remake much more than the The wolfman, from 1941.The make up was just a re-concept from the original make-up by Jack Pierce.Rick Baker done a wonderfull job…and the cgi was used in a perfect way: a suport to develop the creature action. The cast was perfect. The Danny Elfman score was an well done job.
Hope to see a sequel soon.
    Thanks for the attention
